Educational Qualification

  • Secondary School Examination (SSE) pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics and English conducted by any recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India, State Governments, or Union Territories in India.

Selection Process

  • Applicants will be shortlisted for engagement on the basis of a system-generated merit list.
  • Merit list will be prepared based on marks obtained in Secondary School Examination of 10th standard, aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals.
  • For applicants with grades/points only, subject-wise marks will be arrived at by applying a multiplication factor of 9.5.
  • Where Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) is provided, marks will be arrived at by multiplying the CGPA by 9.5.
  • In case of tie among applicants, priority will be decided based on: DOB (older in age), followed by category order: ST trans-woman, ST female, SC trans-woman, SC female, OBC trans-woman, OBC female, EWS trans-woman, EWS female, UR trans-woman, UR female, and so on.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be informed through SMS and email on registered mobile number and email address.
  • Physical verification of documents will be conducted by the Divisional/Unit Head of the Division/Unit where the post is notified.
  • Upon successful verification, a system-generated ‘Offer of provisional engagement’ will be issued immediately.
  • Candidates must complete pre-engagement formalities within 30 days from the date of offer of provisional engagement, including prescribed basic training of 3 days and arrangement of accommodation (for BPM posts).
  • Final order of engagement will be issued after receipt of verification reports from issuing authorities and antecedent reports from Police Authorities.

General Information/Instructions

  • Only one registration is permitted per candidate. Multiple or duplicate registrations/applications are strictly prohibited.
  • Candidates are not required to attach/upload any documents along with the application form except recent photograph and signature.
  • Applications submitted without complete data will be rejected.
  • Applicants should enter all details such as name, date of birth, father’s name, and mother’s name strictly as per the SSC (Class X) marksheet.
  • Applications with blurred or illegible photographs/signatures will be rejected.
  • GDS are not regular employees of the Department/Central Government. Their service conditions are governed by GDS (Conduct and Engagement) Rules, 2020.
  • GDS are required to work for a minimum of four hours and a maximum of five hours a day.
  • GDS cannot be retained beyond 65 years of age.
  • A Sevak should have another source of income besides the allowances paid by the Government for adequate means of livelihood.
  • Candidates selected as BPM are required to arrange accommodation for running the Branch Post Office at their own cost.
  • The Department reserves the right to modify, cancel the notification, or revise the number of posts at any time without assigning any reason.
  • Candidates who have been dismissed/removed/compulsory retired from Government service/Gramin Dak Sevak in the past as a measure of penalty are barred from applying.
  • No person holding an elective office will be considered for engagement.
  • The applicant selected as GDS shall not engage in any activity with any outside agency detrimental to the business or interest of the Post Office/IPPB.
  • Past experience or service of any kind will not be considered for selection.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Qualifications: Must have passed the Intermediate (Class 12) examination with Physics and Mathematics from a recognized board.
  • Essential qualification: Must have an “O” Level examination certificate in computer from the Department of Electronics Accredited in Computer and Communication (DOEACC)/NIELIT or and equivalent qualification recognized by the government.
  • Alternative Qualification: A Diploma in Computer in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or Electronics Engineering from the Board of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh, or a government-recognized equivalent qualification is also accepted.
  • Desirable/Preferential Qualification: Candidates with equal marks in the written exam will be given preference if they have served in the Territorial Army for a minimum of tow years, obtained a “B” Certificate of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), or successfully completed a course in computer hardware and networking from a recognised institute.

Pay Scale /Stipend

  • The position is in Pay Band 5200 -20200, Grade Pay-2400.

Selection Procedure

  • The selection is based on the “Uttar Pradesh Police Computer Employee Cadre (Non-Gazetted) Service Rules 2011” (as amended in 2015)
  • Written Examination: A 200-mark objective-type OMR-based written test with 160 question in General Knowledge, Mental Aptitude, Reasoning and Computer Science.
  • Typing Test: Candidates who pass the written exam (min 40% marks) are called for a qualifying typing test (25 WPM Hindi, 30 WPM English).
  • Document Verification: Successful candidates in the typing test undergo document verification.
  • Final Merit List: A merit list is prepared based on normalized written exam scores and reservation policy followed by medical examination and character verification.
